What appears to have happened is the gold finish has deteriorated due to cleaning with either abrasive or solvent materials. All you need to clean most towel rails is a soft damp cloth and soapy water and a clean soft cloth to dry. See our FAQ section. In order to restore this finish you will need to remove the towel rail and send it to a specialist metal finisher. Usually, Chrome plating companies have this facility or know someone who can do it for you, but be warned, this can be expensive and in some cases, can work out more expensive than buying a new towel rail, particularly if you need to remove an inset radiator. Should you wish to consider replacing the towel rail, contact us on 023 9221 5633 and we can organise a quotation for a replacement using your existing dimensions and pipework details.
